Greetings From Cheesefluffy

Hello. I’m going to start by saying that I’m VERY new to this, but I’ll be as methodical and comprehensive as I can.

So first and foremost, my name is Cheesefluffy, and light novel translation is my passion. I tend to shy away from isekai power fantasies and the ‘harem’ macrogenre in general, opting instead for dark fantasy/yuri titles, or at the very least something with a strong female protagonist.

I’ve been fan translating on and off for about a year and a half now, my school situation permitting, and I’ve finished a total of four volumes. My first project was ‘Omae Gotoki ga Maou ni Kateru to Omou Na’ to Yuusha Party wo Tsuihou Sareta no de, Outo de Kimama ni Kurashitai by kiki and illustrated by Kinta, and it was posted on Baka Tsuki. I finished three volumes, but shortly after the fourth volume was released the series was acquired by Seven Seas under the title ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!. I highly encourage you to follow it, as it’s a marvelous read and what I’d call one of the best light novels ever published. After that, I translated a volume of Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road by Mato Satou and illustrated by Nilitsu. Sadly, this volume never saw the light of day, as literally days after I finished it Yen Press announced its acquisition. I’m kind of hoping my latest project will live a little longer. (^_^);;

That being said, I’ll get right into it: I present to you Puppetmaster by Washichi Saime and illustrated by Manyako(of Strike the Blood fame).

It’s a bit of an obscure work, a single volume published in 2013 before yuri light novels were ‘in’, so to speak. The setting is modern Japan with a fantasy twist. It’s about a *slightly* overconfident young woman who kills otherworldly fiends, all the while suffering harassment at the hands of her colleagues. After she meets a certain lovely lady fiend and being ensnared in a foul conspiracy, she’s forced to reconsider her role in life. It’s got some nice fantasy action with a somewhat dark tone, and it’s of course yuri as well. If you’re at all interested, I highly encourage you to give it a try.

Now, some housekeeping stuff. As I still haven’t decided for certain how I want this site to look, I’ll probably be toying with it for the next week or so, but after that I’m not planning on changing it much.

The last thing I’d like to touch on is that I currently don’t have an editor or proofreader. If anyone has time on their hands (and preferably some Japanese knowledge and access to the source text), please feel free to contact me via the comments section below.

That’s all for now, I guess. I hope to post a new chapter at least weekly. I hope to see you again soon. (^^)

  1. Looks like this is the place for comments, hello!

    Just finished reading chapter 3 and it feels different. I can’t decide if this is your influence while translating, or if the characters really speak like this, but it is very refreshing. I wish I could better describe the feeling. Is it the confidence?

    Anyway, now I’m excited for more, and thank you for bringing this novel to light.
